Demonstrating flexibility

When writing this text, a team from NRT are demonstrating the Adora DRFi X-ray system to interested parties at the 2016 ECR conference. Here they will emphasise the flexibility, which is both inherent and unique to Adora.

No other system on the market offers the same range of movements as Adora. The flexible platform provide a host of key benefits, which are the key to a truly modern and future proof X-ray system. These benefits can best be explained from three viewpoints: Positioning, Access and, for DRFi, hybrid Fluoroscopic and DR capabilities.


Adora’s design platform provides 360° access around the patient in the horizontal plane. Due to a rotating ceiling unit and independently moving detector and X-ray tube arms, images can be captured from virtually any angle and direction. Together, these two design features facilitate several unique positioning abilities in both horizontal and vertical planes. In short, if you can imagine a projection, you can perform it with Adora.
The new inMotion auto positioning system ensures that Adora moves intelligently and efficiently from one position to another. Fully automated movements ensure no physical stress on the staff. Even manoeuvring Adora manually is easy and intuitive due to the SmartHandle joystick and motor assisted movements.

The key benefits of this are:
- Efficient and intuitive positioning.
- Minimal patient repositioning. Move the system around the patient instead.
- Adapt any examination to local preferences or specific situations.
- Perform advanced tracking motions. Get the full view of an anatomy with inOrbit iso-centric tracking


As an extension of PositionAnywhere, the hybrid system Adora DRFi is able to perform dynamic exposures in any position. Sitting, standing or laying  on the table. Advanced tracking options such as inOrbit iso-center tracking further widen the possibilities of studies that can be performed.
Standing procedures do not require a separate wall stand or detector. Such examinations can be made using the same Canon CXDI 50RF detector, making Adora a one-detector solution for the hybrid room, which can be expanded by adding one or more wireless detectors, as needed.
Adora DRFi is a cost-effective solution, because it offers the functionality of a static and a dynamic x-ray room in one combined solution. This enables the X-ray department to quickly adapt to changes in patient mix, which in addition to performing a wider range of studies, can help lessen the need to transfer patients between rooms, ultimately leading to more efficient use of resources.

As a ceiling mounted system, Adora has a minimal footprint within the X-ray room. This leaves plenty of space, under and around the patient table. As a result, both staff and patients can benefit from easy access from around the table.
Rotating the table also creates ample space for performing studies on patients, who do not need to be transferred to the patient table. This provides a much more comfortable experience for wheelchair bound or bedridden patients, reduces strain on staff and improves efficiency by lessening the time needed to perform patient transfers.
Hygienically, the easy access around the system offers major advantages. Simply put, it makes it easier to maintain hygiene standards, as the system is not in the way of cleaners.

The next generation

The original Adora platform was introduced 2008. It represented a ground-breaking design which provided a solid concept and platform for future developments. This next generation, Adora DRi and DRFi, offer extensive updates, improvements and brand new functions to the Adora platform. Built on mature technology and the concept of flexibility, Adora is now once again at the forefront of X-ray technology with systems designed to meet future requirements.
